Our Programs

Georgetown Village provides a vibrant variety of programs designed to support healthy, active, and connected living. With an average of seven programs each week, there is never a dull day at the Village!

Health and Fitness Programs

Twice-a-Week Exercise Classes

This twice-a-week exercise class focuses on the basics of functional movement, and includes a variety of balance and strength training exercises. It's great for both first timers as well a regular fitness enthusiasts alike.

Weekly Stronger Memory Sessions

Stronger Memory, developed by Goodwin House, has been tested and proven to stimulate the brain’s pre-frontal cortex, which governs our ability to retrieve memories. This Village program meets once a week online.

Monthly Healthcare Discussions

Our Healthcare Committee, led by Dr. Fred Rickles, provides monthly healthcare discussions where members can ask questions and receive updates on the latest public health developments and what they mean for their personal health.

Weekly Mahjong Games

Village members convene in the Village Square every Monday for mahjong, the tile game that originated in China and has since taken the world by storm. Experienced players are happy to teach the game to newcomers.

Biweekly Craft Circle

Village members who enjoy crafting or who would like to learn a new craft can join others for a relaxing afternoon of needlepoint, knitting, origami, or other portable crafts.

Monthly Movie Nights

Each month the Village shows a timely film followed by a group discussion. Featured films span many different genres, including comedies, dramas, documentaries, and more.

Monthly Docent-Led Museum Visits

Each month, the Village offers excursions to museum exhibitions and a variety of other destinations, including wineries, botanical gardens, historic sites, and seasonal attractions.

Monthly Book Club Meetings

The Village Book Club meets monthly to discuss a diverse selection of fiction and nonfiction texts. The club offers the opportunity to share ideas, discover new books, and connect with fellow readers.

Conversation & Community Series

In our Conversation & Community series, expert speakers from the fields of law, health, technology, and more present on pressing topics of the day. These programs are open to the community and usually held online.

Monthly Men's Lunch

The Men's Lunch group meets monthly for lunch at local favorite Pinstripes. The restaurant offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, and flatbreads.

Monthly Women's Lunch

The Women's Lunch group meets monthly for lunch at various locales in Georgetown. Past destinations have included Martin's, Peacock Cafe, and 1310 Kitchen and Bar, among others.

Monthly Social Hours

At our monthly social hours, Village members have the chance to connect and catch up with neighbors. A variety of drinks and light refreshments are served.

Day Trips to NYC and Other Nearby Cities

The Village occasionally heads beyond the local area for day trips to nearby cities, including New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. Past outings have included visits to Broadway shows and the Philadelphia Flower Show.

The Bill Plante Conversations

Held in memory of revered CBS News journalist and former Georgetown Village member Bill Plante, this series features discussions with prominent speakers working in media. Past speakers have included Jim Axelrod and Rita Braver.

Dîner en Blanc

Dîner en Blanc is a worldwide celebration of food, friendship, and community that began in Paris in the 1980s and has since grown into a beloved tradition in cities around the world. The Village puts its own spin on this elegant community picnic, which is held annually.
